Baby Aaron

This is Dan reporting that our third baby, Aaron, was born today! To sum things up quickly, this was our smallest baby yet, weighing only 8 lbs. 9 oz. We're not used to such tiny babies. He is 21 inches long. He was born at 10:14 this morning.

Ok, with all the usually published details out of the way, here are a few mug shots.

This kid was in a hurry to come out. Debbie was induced starting at 6:00 this morning and didn't have much time for anything really. Right after her epidural around 9:30, she started feeling lots of pressure. She went from a 5 to a 10 in no time flat. The doctor just barely made it, otherwise it would have been the nurse (or worse yet, me!) catching the baby. Debbie's body was in shock for a little while after that, because everything happened so quickly, but she is doing better now. She'll tell you she prefers labors that last a little longer.

Aaron is a very mellow kid, and a very good eater. After having his first meal, he kept rooting around like he was still hungry, but he never complained very loudly about it. Even in the nursery, he took all of the poking, prodding, and washing without too much of a fuss. After getting a little more to eat and getting wrapped up, burrito style, he fell right to sleep and hardly made a sound for a few hours. Later, when his siblings showed up, he took all of the noise and attention very well.

Kaitlyn is a very good big sister, and always wants to hold and take care of the baby. Skyler's reaction was fairly predictable as well. He liked the baby, but soon lost interest and went begging for food and climbing on all the furniture.

We are all excited for this new addition to our family. Aaron is definitely a keeper!
